Seems like the CPA could call and say I'm loading a customers files with their copies and will uninstall when complete if they needed more time. I am even okay with coping the disk to the network then installing that way so I have the disk forever - but you'd be hard pressed to get me to unplug the network just so I don't have to register each copy / install.

Is she insane or is this how you guys install Quickbooks Pro / Premier / Enterprise for your clients? Only off of the discs and NEVER use download version? Hoping that Nick might weigh in here and explain.

I gave her the 11 full download install with registration codes on her thumbdrive and yup she installed at CPA's office but had to have internet she says to get the install to work "without internet the install fails - has to get control files" - which gives the CPA 30 days before it has to be registered it seems.

I upgrade things remotely at midnight usually and unplugging would make zero sense to get around something that is a non-issue for most CPA's or bookkeepers. (yes techically the CPA could just remote in and do the work locally - think that would be a better solution myself - doh)Īnyway - they have the 12 upgrade and she says the process should only use the Disk (which I never do) and then unplug from the network while installing and upgrading.

So bookkeepers solution - take version from client and install at CPA's office just to review clients number then return company file with adjustments made. the CPA only as quickbooks pro and can't open the Enterprise version files. with enterprise the CPA can't open and view the files now. this way intuit can't track the installations and the codes will continue to work - She doesn't want to exactly violate the TOS but definitely edge around it it seems. wants to only install quickbooks off of the disc Now enter their Bookkeeper - nice lady but has some ways that she does things that I'm not exactly comfortable with. If you need that many people attached premier won't handle that either.įast forward - Had to get enterprise at one heck of a pricetag, but it runs good. (apparently now premier will support up to 30 users - so not sure why Intuit didn't recommend that one - also had lots of DB Failures and issues and Enterprise really seems to run much better - premier might have as well who knows!) pro will only now support 3 users no longer up to 5. Last year they were adding people and that meant they could at times have up to 6 people in the quickbooks application at one time.
